First Quarter

The Suns came out to a quick 4-0 run causing Spurs coach Gregg Popovich to call a quick timeout.

Kevin Durant was guarding Victor Wembanyama on the defensive end. Wembanyama was guarding Josh Okogie to start the game.

The first time Wembanyama touched the ball, Durant stripped him and then came down and hit a mid-range jumper. The run continued for the Suns, they scored eight unanswered points to start the game.

The incredible length of Wembanyama was on display early as he blocked a Grayson Allen three point attempt.

The Spurs were able to stay in the game despite the early run from the Suns. Phoenix was up 16-9 with 4:18 left in the quarter. The Suns would expand the lead over the next minute plus behind the play of Allen, Yuta Watanabe, and Kevin Durant. Suns led 22-14 with three minutes left in the quarter.

Spurs came out in a 3-2 zone with Wembanyama at the top of it after the timeout. The Suns continued to play well against man or zone. Phoenix led 27-18 at the end of the first quarter.

Durant led all scorers with 10 points. Eric Gordon scored 7 in the quarter. Wembanyama had two points.
