“I think Arizona got ignored a little bit. People missed how good they are.” Manfred said on the Carton show. “Money makes it easier to win, but it doesn’t necessarily guarantee it. I think the Diamondbacks built their teams the right way, and Mike Hazen deserves a lot of credit.”

That’s high praise from the head of the MLB.  Arizona has come a long way. Their highest-paid player is not even on the roster anymore in Madison Bumgarner. They went from being one of the worst in baseball two years ago to the World Series, thanks to the young talent they have developed, traded for, and low-profile free-agent signings. The Diamondbacks start their World Series run against the Rangers tomorrow.
