Hurley was able to bring a lot of high-upside transfer players. The two guys that highlight the list are Center Shawn Philips Jr. Who Hurley has praised this offseason as well as Guard Jose Perez who they recently got from West Virginia as he averagers 15 for his career.

Malachi Davis is an intriguing player from Tallahassee Community College as he averaged 17.1 PPG on 50.5% shooting from the floor. With him, Perez, and starters Frankie Collins and Jamiya Neal, the Sun Devils might have the best guard depth in the Pac-12.

Hurley was also able to snag two 4-star recruits from high school in guard Braelon Green and forward Akil Watson. Arizona State is coming into this season with a new look team but with extreme depth that could shock some people in the Pac-12.

Hurley talked about the new arrivals in a preseason media availability and he talked about what he’s seen thus far to get ready for the upcoming season.

“The new guys have come in and worked extremely hard,” Coach Hurley said. “We have been extremely impressed with the group’s competitiveness and skill level. They are also getting closer as a unit every day.”
