After concluding their regular season with a rather disheartening four-game losing streak, the Arizona Diamondbacks are gearing up to face the Milwaukee Brewers in the Wild Card round.

Although the official starting time for the series hasn’t been announced yet, it’s expected to kick off on Tuesday, October 3rd.

The Brewers had an impressive regular season, amassing 91 wins, which secured them the top spot in the NL Central division. This marks their fifth trip to the postseason in the past six years.

However, the Brewers’ recent playoff history hasn’t been all sunshine and roses despite their consistent presence in October.

In their previous four postseason appearances, Milwaukee managed to make it to the National League Championship Series (NLCS) just once, and twice they couldn’t progress beyond the Wild Card round.

On the other hand, the Diamondbacks find themselves back in playoff contention for the first time since 2017.

They wrapped up their regular season with a record of 84-78, which was just enough to secure the final Wild Card spot in the National League.

These two teams have faced off against each other six times this year. The Diamondbacks won four of these matchups.

Due to the extended time it took them to clinch their playoff berth, the Diamondbacks will be without their two ace pitchers, Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly, at the outset of the Wild Card round.

With this series being a best-of-three, this certainly presents a less than ideal situation, particularly considering the relative lack of depth in their starting rotation.

In contrast, the Brewers boast an impressive pitching staff, as evidenced by their team ERA of 3.73, which is tied with the Blue Jays for the best in all of baseball.

The winner of this series will take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS.
