The Cardinals received the opening kickoff and went three and out.

San Francisco looked like a well oiled machine on their opening drive. They drove 62 yards on eight plays for a touchdown. This took four minutes and sixteen seconds off of the clock. The drive was very balanced as their quarterback Brock Purdy went 3/3 for 38 yards. Christian McCaffrey had 4 carries for 14 yards and a touchdown.

This is the 13th straight game that McCaffrey has scored a touchdown in. He is now five games short of tying the record of 18 straight games scoring a touchdown. Which is held by San Diego Charger legend LaDainian Tomlinson.

This was followed by another short drive by Arizona. There was a little more success on this drive as they moved the ball down the field but they ultimately had to punt.

San Francisco’s offense would not miss a beat in their second drive. The turning point in the drive was a 4th and 4 where they decided to go for it. Purdy completed a nine yard pass to all-pro tight end George Kittle. After that play they would go on to score another touchdown.

The 49ers were up 14-0 with 14:14 left in the second quarter. McCaffrey gained 51 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns in the first 16 minutes of the game.

Arizona’s offense showed some life in the drive after McCaffrey’s second score. The big play of this drive was a 4th and 7 on San Francisco’s 45 yard line. A little too far to kick a field goal but not the ideal distance for a punt. The Cardinals went for it and their quarterback Joshua Dobbs scrambled and picked up the first down by stretching the ball out in front of the first down marker as he went out of bounds.

The Cardinals were able to captilize off of Dobbs efforts and get into field goal range. Matt Prater knocked in a 38-yard field goal.

San Francisco came right back with another touchdown drive. They were able to get down to Arizona’s 22-yard line after Purdy threw a deep pass to Brandon Aiyuk.

Then the drive was capped off with another touchdown from Christian McCaffrey. This one through the air.

The 49ers were up 21-3 with 5:23 left in the second quarter.

The Cardinals would end the half on a high note as they took 13 plays to go 87 yards for a touchdown. This drive included two huge passes from Dobbs to rookie wide receiver Michael Wilson. Wilson would catch a 33-yard pass then on the very next play catch a 16-yard touchdown pass.

Players of the Half
