Kendrick Perkins: “Bol Bol is going to show up and show out this season.”

The Phoenix Suns have made lots of moves this off-season as they were searching for the right combination of players to win a championship. One of the moves that may have been lost amongst the rest is the signing of Bol Bol. ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins has not forgotten about the signing of Bol.

Perkins said, “I think he (Bol Bol) is the sleeper. He is going to show up and show out for this season for the Phoenix Suns. I feel like he is going to be…a candidate off the bench for defensive player of the year.”

Bol is entering his fifth season in the NBA. His first three seasons were with the Denver Nuggets. The former Oregon Duck only played in a total of 53 games in his first three seasons. Then last year, he was with the Orlando Magic. Bol played in 70 games, starting in 33. He averaged 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 54% from the field last season.

Kendrick Perkins expectations for Bol would definitely be a big jump for him as a player but the potential has been there. Bol is 7’2″ with a 7’5″ wingspan. He is also athletic and fluid for his size.

He may have the ability to become a great shot blocker one day. It may be a bit early to say he will be a defensive player of the year candidate but he may get his chance to showcase what he can do as a rim protector this year.

The expectations for Bol have been high since high school. Will this be the year the NBA starts to see the full capability of what Bol can do?
