New Diamondbacks Starting to Make Big Impact

After a couple questionable trades, over the past week the Diamondbacks have started to find a little bit of a groove.

At the trade deadline the Arizona Diamondbacks didn’t necessarily do what I personally thought they should’ve done. Some fans might have felt the same way, but now it’s sort of starting to make sense. In the last week the Diamondbacks have gone 5-2 and seem to have found a good rhythm to shape up for a good playoff push.

After acquiring veteran outfielder Tommy Pham, he started off very shaky. Going just 4-25 in his first seven starts, it was not looking good. The Diamondbacks need someone to produce NOW and that is exactly what he is starting to do.

In Pham’s last five starts he has gone 7-20 with a double and a homerun. He has also crossed the plate for a run six times in that span. Producing five RBIs as well.

On the year Pham has a batting AVG of .264, with 12 HRs, 46 RBIs and an OPS of .808.

Another guy the Diamondbacks acquired that started off shaky was Paul Sewald. The veteran closer blew his first save as a Diamondback but would go on to get the save in his next four outings.

On the year Sewald has an ERA of 3.19, 25 saves, 68 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.10.

Recently Arizona called up former first round draft pick Bryce Jarvis who looked stellar in his first career outing as a Diamondback. The Diamondbacks number one pitching prospect notched 110 strikeouts this season in the minors and also had a 9-6 record.

With the Diamondbacks needing arms out of the pen, they brought Jarvis up along with Justing Martinez. To help in the field the Diamondbacks have recently brought up Kyle Lewis.
