After back-to-back series wins, the Diamondbacks prepare for a series against the Padres, who they took a series against the last weekend.

The Diamondbacks have to rewind the clock and get back to playing their best baseball. With the end of the season coming down to the wire, the squad needs to return to that first half of the season form so we can all be watching October baseball.

Arizona is currently 1.5 games back from the third wildcard spot. This series against San Diego is a must win, because the Padres are 4.5 games back. The Padres are fighting with the Diamondbacks amongst others for that spot.

For game one of the series, it is an identical matchup to game two in the previous series. On Saturday we saw Zac Gallen face off against Rich Hill. Gallen threw six innings of shutout baseball. Diamondback fans have to be pleased to see the same pitcher’s duel this week, since their guy won the last one just five days ago.

After a wild win last night, the Diamondbacks put themselves back over .500 (61-60). With about 40 games left in the season, the Diamondbacks still have time to cover some ground. The squad has to find a way to carry this momentum forward to find themselves in the post season.

A massive contributor to the Diamondbacks success has been first baseman Christian Walker. The guy has been lighting up baseball recently, hitting four homeruns in a three-game set against Colorado.

Walker has also had his way against Padre pitchers all season. In 30 at bats against San Diego he has a .366 average with 2 homers and 3 doubles.

All in all, the Diamondbacks need to find a way to stay in the win column. Finding a way to take three in San Diego is just the start.
