Led by a Corbin Carroll three-run blast in the first inning, the D-backs’ offense was hot right from the jump.

Christian Walker then followed up this three-run blast with a solo shot. In total, Arizona put up a five-spot in the first inning.

Shortly after this offensive explosion, the Rays would strike right back in the top of the second with four runs. In what started with a pair of walks and a base hit, Diamondbacks’ ace Zac Gallen lost control of his pitches in a rather shocking fashion.

Two wild pitches from Gallen would allow the Rays to score their first two runs of the night. A Jose Siri homerun would then cap off the big inning for Tampa Bay.

But after this strong second inning, the Rays’ offense went completely silent for the remainder of the game.

Zac Gallen would exit with six innings under his belt. He secured his 10th win of the season, which is tied with the Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw for most in the National League.

The Diamondbacks bullpen tossed three shutout innings, allowing just one hit against one of the best offenses in baseball.

On the other hand, the D-backs kept the bats rolling with a pair of solo shots from Evan Longoria and Ketel Marte.

Game two of this series will be tomorrow at 6:40. Zach Davies is scheduled to get the start for the Diamondbacks with hopes of securing a series victory.
