Where do Corbin Carroll and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. rank as All-Star starters after one day of voting?

The Diamondbacks’ Corbin Carroll ranked second (out of four) among NL outfielders, while Lourdes Gurriel Jr. was fourth in the first MLB All-Star starter voting update released this morning.

The total reported results (per MLB) were as follows:

  1. Mookie Betts, Dodgers: 35%
  2. Corbin Carroll, D-backs: 31%
  3. Michael Harris II, Braves: 19%
  4. Lourdes Gurriel Jr., D-backs: 16%

Carroll is hitting .290 (80-for-276) this season with 23 stolen bases, 16 home runs, 41 RBIs and 59 runs. His OBP is .369, SLG is .558 and OPS is .927. The rookies’ OPS is seventh in the MLB and his total stolen bases are fourth. The MLB unanimously ranked Carroll as the No. 1 rookie for the second straight month in their rookie power rankings released this morning.

For the year, Gurriel is hitting .275 (71-for-258) and has 11 home runs, 44 RBIs and 32 runs scored. He has an OBP of .326, a SLG of .484 and OPS of .810.

The NL West first-place Diamondbacks (47-32) take on the Rays (54-27, best record in the MLB) tonight at Chase Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 and Zac Gallen (9-2, 2.84 ERA) will be pitching for the D-backs against the Rays’ Taj Bradley (5-3, 3.86 ERA).
