Suns Keep Win Streak Alive, Beat Thunder

With only four games remaining in the regular season, the Phoenix Suns are continuing to put the pieces together.

The Suns visited the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday, finishing their regular season series. Phoenix was also on a four-game winning streak coming into Sunday, continuing to maintain their dominance in the Western Conference.

Devin Booker and Kevin Durant stepped up, giving the Suns a hefty advantage going into the fourth quarter.

With the battle coming down to the final minutes, Phoenix was able to pull away with a 128-118 win. The Suns are now on a five-game winning streak.

Booker and Durant Combine for Points

Seeing the Durant-Booker duo collaborate in an efficient way continues to be a positive sighting ahead of the playoffs.

Booker went off for 22 points, shooting 8-of-14 from the field. Booker was able to make the most of his trips to the free throw line, going 5-of-5 from the charity stripe. He also dished out 10 assists, earning him a double-double on the night.

As for Durant, who is continuing to work his way back into peak form, he scored 35 points on 13-of-21 shooting. In the first half, Durant was met with an ensemble of boos from the OKC crowd, breathing even deeper intensity into the matchup.

Ayton Double-Double

Ayton’s surge as a formidable double-double threat came to a slight halt after his hip contusion injury. In his three games since returning before Sunday, the seven-footer was averaging 10.7 points and seven rebounds.

Ayton was able work his way back into double-double fashion on Sunday, scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for the contest.

Ayton’s presence in the post has to resume to its normal standards with little time remaining in the regular season.

Shai has a Game

Though the Suns were able to maintain a lead for the better portion of the game, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s efforts kept the Thunder in the mix.

The 24-year-old guard went off for for 39 points, shooting 11-of-22 from the field. He maximized his outing with 17 free throw attempts. Gilgeous-Alexander attempted 19 free throws in his last meeting with Phoenix, resulting in a 29-point outing.

With the , the Suns move to 43-35 on the season with four games remaining. The win furthers their solidified spot as the fourth seed in the Western Conference.

Up next for Phoenix will be the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday, which could give the Suns a decent break prior to the playoffs.
