Watkins was drafted in the 4th round of the 2017 draft by the Houston Texans. He then played four seasons with the Texans before playing the last two years with the Cowboys.
However, the 29-year-old only played in more than 50% of defensive snaps one time last season. Watkins mainly played as a role player as he shifted from the left side of the line to the right, and sometimes even as an edge rusher.
In his career, Watkins has played in 69 games and grabbed one interception, three forced fumbles, 132 combined tackles, and seven QB hits.
Cardinals’ HC Jonathan Gannon has made it clear that he will focus on building the team’s defense this offseason. So far, a majority of Arizona’s free agent signings have come on this side of the field.
