GLENDALE — Marvin Harrison Jr.’s uncertain role with the Arizona Cardinals has opened the door for teams to call about him, with one in particular being familiar to the wide receiver.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Indianapolis Colts have called the Cardinals about Harrison’s availability, adding another layer to the mounting questions surrounding the former No. 4 overall pick.

When asked Monday on “The Pat McAfee Show” whether Indianapolis would make sense as a potential landing spot, Schefter responded, “Wouldn’t that make a lot of sense?”

And in some ways, it would.

Harrison’s fit with the Colts would be about more than just production on the field. His father, Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Marvin Harrison, spent his entire 13-year career with the franchise. Now, Harrison’s situation in Arizona has opened the possibility of him heading to the city where his father built his Hall of Fame career.

So far, it hasn’t been the season Harrison or the Cardinals envisioned. Through four games, Harrison has five catches for 85 yards and a touchdown on 13 targets. In Sunday’s 36-24 loss to the New York Giants, Harrison finished with one catch for 12 yards and a touchdown on four targets.

It’s far from what the Cardinals have wanted out of Harrison when they selected him fourth overall in 2024. As a rookie, he caught 62 passes for 885 yards and eight touchdowns. Last season, those numbers dropped to 41 catches for 608 yards and four touchdowns.

With Arizona now 1-3 to start the year and Harrison becoming less central to the offense, the idea of a change of scenery isn’t something that can be ruled out. The Colts are dealing with their own injuries in their wide receiver group, including Keenan Allen, who missed Sunday’s game with a groin injury.

A trade would be a significant turn of events, but if the Cardinals are truly reconsidering Harrison’s future, the Colts have plenty of reasons to make an offer.
