After losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII, Eagles’ DC Jonathan Gannon stayed in Arizona to interview for the head coaching spot with the Cardinals.

Philadelphia has already lost their offensive coordinator, Shane Steichen, who plans to become the Indianapolis Colts’ new head coach.

Gannon offers eight years of NFL coaching experience spread across three different teams.

Most recently, Gannon has led the Eagles’ defense to become one of the best in the NFL, as they allowed barely over 17 points per game during the 2022 season.

This is a massive improvement compared to how Philadelphia stood before Gannon took over on defense.

In 2020, the Eagles allowed over 25 points per game, causing them to finish last in the NFC East with a 4-11-1 record.

However, these improvements that were made by Gannon were all forgotten after the Eagles defense allowed 38 points to the Chiefs when it all mattered.

Despite a terrific game from quarterback Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia had no answer for Andy Reid’s creative offensive schemes.

As a result, Gannon faced relentless attacks the morning after the game, as many put the loss in his hands.

This Super Bowl performance could have very well caused him to skip his flight and stay in Arizona for an interview with Michael Bidwill.

Stay tuned for more updates, as the Cardinals should announce their decision shortly.
