After the 49ers defeated the Cardinals 38-10 on Monday night, DB Charvarius Ward called Hopkins “steroid boy,” via Darren Urban.

In response, five-time Pro Bowl WR DeAndre Hopkins called out Ward’s toughness.

“I would love to get in the boxing ring and see how tough he is in real life.”

But that was not it. Hopkins expanded on these comments, potentially creating even more tensions between the two.

“Obviously that was very personable. When a young guy like that says something like that… it’s a lot of talk. To me it’s laughable. It’s funny.”

During the Monday night battle, Hopkins put up over 90 receiving yards, with Ward covering on a good amount of them.

The two will have a chance to go at it again in Week 18. This time, the Cardinals will be on the road to San Francisco to finish up the season.
