The Arizona Diamondbacks won Thursday’s matchup by a score of 4-2 over the New York Mets, sealing a series win over one of the league’s best ball clubs.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Zac Gallen was outstanding on the day for the Arizona Diamondbacks as he pitched six innings and only gave up one earned run on two hits. His command was on point as Gallen looked locked in like he did earlier in the season when he started in New York against the Yankees. His only blemish on the day was when Juan Soto hit a solo shot home run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Juan Soto had two solo home runs today, as he hit his second off of Kevin Ginkel in the bottom of the eighth inning. After a Jesse Winker double that went over the head of Alek Thomas, the Mets had the go-ahead run on second with one out. Kevin Ginkel turned on the heat though as he struck out Pete Alonso swinging and Brandon Nimmo looking.

The D-Backs showed that they can punch back with the best of them. When the Mets struck with their Soto solo homers, the D-Backs came right back and had a couple of their own. Geraldo Perdomo hit a solo shot home run in the top of the seventh, right after Solo had his in the sixth. Tim Tawa hit a towering shot that just got over the wall in the top of the ninth after Soto had his second home run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Getting that breathing room with those extra runs helped shift momentum right back to Arizona and took the energy right out of Citi Field.

After dropping the first game of the series on Tuesday, Arizona came back and won the next two games on Wednesday and Thursday to beat a talented and red-hot Mets ball club. They will see the Mets again soon as they travel to Chase Field for a three-game series next week. The D-Backs travel to Philadephia now to face off against the Phillies over the weekend, with the first game being on Friday, May 2nd at 3:45 p.m. MST.
