They meet tonight at Yankee stadium for the last game of the series, before the D-Backs continue on their road trip to Washington after.

Tonight’s pitching matchups:

D-Backs are rocking with their number 3 pitcher Merrill Kelly, who looks to stay healthy this season after an unfortunate injury in 2024. He was limited to only 13 starts over the season, and ended with a 4.03 ERA. Kelly, looked dominant though in his first start of the season. Kelly, who faced the Chicago Cubs over Opening Day Weekend, went 5.1 innings, only giving up one earned run, and three hits. Kelly now has a 1-0 record with a 1.69 ERA.

The Yankees will be starting Carlos Carrasco, who was added in the offseason by New York. He had two innings pitched as a reliever against the Milwaukee Brewers, and the Brew Crew put up three runs on five hits. A lot of news is surrounding Carrasco, as people in New York are debating if his Yankees career will even last throughout the 2025 season.

About last night:

Last night saw the true talents of Zac Gallen, as he bounced back from his Opening Day loss. Gallen, throwing 6.2 innings with only three hits, also matched his career high 13 strikeouts. It is worth noting, that the New York Yankees club have also struck out 30 times in the last 2 games.

The D-Backs seem to have an edge on the pitching matchup today, though they are sitting some starters. They will need some help from their depth if they want their bats to keep up with a Yankees lineup that can do damage at any time.
