The night started off with a bang for the Arizona Diamondbacks, as Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a towering two-run home run, to jump out to a quick 2-0 start over the Yankees. In the second inning, the snakes followed it up by adding two more runs. Geraldo Perdomo started it off with a sacrifice fly out to center scoring Eugenio Suárez, and then Ketel Marte followed it up by hitting a single to center, scoring Perdomo. The 4-0 lead that the D-Backs gained, stayed constant throughout most of the game.

The highlight of the night was the talents of starting pitcher Zac Gallen, as he avenged his Opening Day debacle by coming out and throwing an absolute gem. Gallen, the winning pitcher on the day, had 6.1 innings pitched, and only gave up three hits. Not to mention, he also had zero earned runs, and tied his career high 13 strikeouts on the day. Gallen, who is set to become a free agent next season, is showing his worth in more ways than one.

A.J. Puk came into the game in the ninth, and even though Puk looked a little shaky towards the end by giving up a three-run home run to Anthony Volpe, he got the save and the D-Backs out of there, winning by a one run margin.

The D-Backs win their first series of 2025, and look to go for the sweep over the New York Yankees in their final game tomorrow, Thursday, April 3rd at 4:05 p.m. MST.
