One can only imagine the locker room atmosphere following a 9-2 loss to the worst team in baseball in front of a nearly 40,000 home crowd. But on Father’s Day, the Diamondbacks made it clear that whatever was said inside that locker room on Saturday night worked wonders, as they exploded for a 12-5 win over the Chicago White Sox.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Chase Field hosted 37,694 fans for this impressive victory, marking the highest attendance total in back-to-back games for the D-backs this season since their series against the Yankees in the first week of April.
The Diamondbacks wasted no time getting the party started early. After Corbin Carroll drew a walk and Ketel Marte laced a base hit into right field to put two runners on base with nobody out in the 1st inning, Joc Pederson stayed hot with a double down the line. Then, a batter later, Christian Walker, who is also on fire as of late, smashed a 432-ft home run to make it a 3-0 game. Walker ended the afternoon with three hits and now has five home runs in June.

In the 3rd inning, hoping to protect a 3-0 lead, Jordan Montgomery ran into some trouble after Danny Mendick reached 2nd on a throwing error. Following a Tommy Pham walk, the White Sox found themselves with runners on the corners and just one out as their two top hitters were due up at the plate. However, Montgomery successfully navigated out of the inning by forcing Andrew Vaughn, who had a home run and three RBIs the prior night, to ground out to second. He then needed just four pitches to strike out Luis Robert Jr., escaping the jam with just one runner crossing the plate.
From there, it was practically all Diamondbacks. In the 4th inning, a Blaze Alexander base hit was followed by a bunt for a hit and then a drawn walk to load the bases with nobody out. This is when the floodgates opened, as Arizona tacked on six more runs, including a timely Christian Walker double that drove in two, and a couple of runners scoring on a pair of wild pitches. With his big afternoon, Walker is now 5th in the National League with 49 RBIs.

While the final score did end 12-5, the White Sox actually outhit the Diamondbacks 11-9. But Chicago struggled all afternoon with runners in scoring position, going 3-9. They left eight total runners on base, compared to just four by the Dbacks.
The only downside from Arizona’s win on Sunday was that Justin Martinez’s 19-inning shutout streak, which started on May 3rd, was snapped. Of all people, it was Tommy Pham, a former member of the Diamondbacks, who knocked a two-out base hit to drive in a run on a 100-MPH fastball.
Additionally, Corbin Carroll exited in the 8th inning after throwing a ball on the run. He walked away with a trainer holding his side.
Not good. #Dbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll has been pulled from the game in the 7th with an injury. Went straight to the trainer coming off the field. Looked like he hurt his side on the run/throw in from center. @12SportsAZ
