Burn City Best Bets: Western Conference Over/Under Win Totals (Part 1)

The start of the NBA season is 10 days away. There are so many bets to be made. One of the season long bets is over/under win totals. What teams will exceed expectations and which teams will not meet their expectations?

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

Dallas Mavericks 43.5 Wins

The Dallas Mavericks had a very interesting season last year where they did not meet expectations. Dallas not only missed the playoffs but they also missed the play-in tournament. They finished with the 11th best record in the western conference at 38-44.

This year will be the first full season of Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic playing together. So it is expected for their offense to be one of the most dynamic in the league. Dallas also added former Boston Celtic Grant Williams to go along with Tim Hardaway Jr, Dwight Powell and others.

This team will be able to score with the best of them. The question is can they get enough stops to win more than 44 games? Will Kyrie Irving play enough games for this team to win 44 or more games?

The competition in the western conference along with the lack of defense on this roster screams, TAKE THE UNDER! Wins will be hard to come by for every team in the west but even harder for teams that don’t play defense on a consistent basis.

Denver Nuggets 52.5 Wins

The Denver Nuggets are the defending NBA champions. Denver finished the regular season with the best record in the western conference, 53-29. They have one of the best, if not, the best starting five in the NBA.

The consensus best player in the world, Nikola Jokic. Big time playoff performer, Jamal Murray. One of the best shooters in the league, Michael Porter Jr. A great switchable defender in Aaron Gordon. The epitome of a “3 and D” player in Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

Denver did loss some of their depth from last season with Bruce Brown and Jeff Green going to different teams. Will Christian Braun be good this year in a bigger role? Can they depend of Reggie Jackson as the backup point guard?

Outside of the talent on the roster and the way the team plays, another thing that makes Denver unique is their home court advantage. They play at an high altitude that gives them an advantage of other teams. The Nuggets are very aware of that and will want the number one seed heading into the playoffs. TAKE THE OVER!

Golden State Warriors 47.5 Wins

The Golden State Warriors were the sixth seed in the western conference playoffs last season with a record of 44-38. This off-season the team decided to lean on experience as they traded Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards for Chris Paul.

Paul is a very interesting addition to the team as he and Steph Curry play the same position. We are in an era of “position-less” basketball so are the Warriors going to run a super small lineup with both Paul and Curry in the back court? Will they have the future hall of famer, Chris Paul come off of the bench?

Will the experience that they are leaning on be healthy enough to win 48 or more games? This is a valid concern with Chris Paul being 38 years old, Steph Curry being 35, Klay Thompson turning 34 during the season, Draymond Green who is currently hurt, turning 34 during the season as well.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has made it pretty clear that he values rest over position in the standings. Kerr will rest their stars and there will be injuries to these older players. TAKE THE UNDER!

Houston Rockets 31.5 Wins

The Houston Rockets have been going through a tough time over the last three seasons. They have won 17, 20, and 22 games respectively over those seasons. They decided it was time to shake things up. Houston hired former Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka. Udoka helped lead the Celtics to the NBA Finals in the 2021-22 season.

The Rockets also made big roster changes by adding veterans like Fred Vanvleet, Dillon Brooks, and Jeff Green to go along with the young emerging talents like Jabari Smith Jr and Jalen Green. Udoka is known for his no nonsense approach to coaching and now has the veterans to relay his message to the team.

Houston will not be a championship contender this year but don’t be shocked if they are in the play-in tournament. TAKE THE OVER!

Los Angeles Clippers 45.5 Wins

The Los Angeles Clippers may be the toughest team to predict wins and losses for in the NBA. There is no way to know how much their star players, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George will play. Last season they finished 44-38 despite Leonard and George each missing at least 26 games. It looks like both George and Leonard are coming into this year healthy.

The Clippers are also the preferred destination of disgruntled Philadelphia 76er James Harden. A big three of James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, and Paul George would be very tough for other teams to deal with. That is a big “what if” as the 76ers may not budge on their position of not trading Harden.

The best thing to do with the Clippers over/under win total is to STAY AWAY, STAY FAR AWAY! If a bet is to be made, TAKE THE OVER! If healthy, another big “what if” but if healthy this team will be among the best in the west. Leonard and George are also both playing for new contracts. There is major incentive for both to not only be productive but to be available.

The over/under win totals in this article are from FanDuel. They may be different on other betting sites and/or apps. Please remember to bet responsibly!

There are more over/under win total predictions. Look out for part two.
