PHOENIX – The Phoenix Suns’ release of their 2026 preseason schedule isn’t just another date announcement; it’s the beginning of one of the franchise’s most important evaluation periods in years.

For the first time, fans will see how head coach Jordan Ott intends to blend an overhauled roster featuring Miles Bridges, Luke Kennard, rookie Koa Peat, and several young contributors around established stars Devin Booker, Jalen Green, and Dillon Brooks. While preseason records rarely predict regular-season success, the rotations absolutely can.

There will be a ton of questions surrounding this Suns team in preseason. Does Kennard become the second-unit scorer or finish games because of his shooting? Can Peat force his way into meaningful minutes immediately? Perhaps most importantly, which five-man lineup develops the chemistry needed to make some noise in the stacked Western Conference?

Those questions make every preseason substitution more meaningful than the final scoreboard. The Suns’ five exhibition games, including two against the San Antonio Spurs, offer enough opportunities to experiment without waiting until the regular season to discover what works. Coaches will test defensive combinations, offensive spacing, transition lineups, and bench units against NBA competition before games begin to count. For Phoenix, this process extends beyond individual talent. Championship-caliber teams aren’t built by collecting the biggest names; they’re built by identifying complementary roles. Every minute in October helps define those roles. That’s why this preseason matters.

Fans won’t simply be watching basketball return to the Valley. They’ll be watching the blueprint for the 2026-27 Suns take shape in real time. By opening night, the biggest question won’t be whether Phoenix has enough talent; it will be whether October answered who fits best alongside their star trio when the games truly matter.
