GLENDALE – One of the hardest parts for any NFL team is to avoid injuries and to have a good backup plan with steady and reliable depth. This past Sunday in the Arizona Cardinals’ matchup with the Carolina Panthers, the Cardinals encountered multiple injuries to their CB core, including Max Melton, Garrett Williams, and the newest member of the Cardinals, Will Johnson. It was a tough pill to swallow as Arizona saw its top three cornerbacks go down, as Max Melton first left in serious pain with a knee injury and was carted to the locker room. Garrett Williams later in the game also suffered a left knee injury and was unable to return to Sunday’s matchup as well.

Rookie CB Will Johnson will be the one that Cardinals fans are keeping their eye on the most, as his first two games in a Cardinals uniform were stellar performances. In his first week against the New Orleans Saints, Johnson had an incredible interception, even if it was wiped out, along with a massive statement hit on Saints WR Chris Olave. Will Johnson recently posted an unsettling message on Instagram, “Keep the faith.”

Only time will tell what that message truly means, though the cryptic and uneasy vibe surrounding the comment is sure to raise some questions. It would be a massive blow to the Cardinals’ defense if they were to lose their top three starting cornerbacks, right before a crucial divisional matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.
