PHOENIX — With outfielder Tommy Troy landing on the injured list, the Arizona Diamondbacks are recalling a player who has had a standout season at Triple-A Reno as they begin the second half.

According to Arizona Central’s Nick Piecoro, the club is recalling first baseman Tyler Locklear for his second stint in Sedona Red. Once again, Arizona is relying on its farm system depth as injuries continue to mount. Locklear’s recall, however, is one fans should pay close attention to.
Acquired at last year’s trade deadline from the Seattle Mariners as part of the trade package for Eugenio Suárez, Locklear’s first stint with the Diamondbacks wasn’t ideal. He got off to a slow start but appeared to be finding his rhythm before his season was cut short.

Locklear was sidelined after attempting to field a ball at first base early September 2025, suffering both a torn labrum in his left shoulder and a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow.
The first baseman required season-ending surgery, but this season has showcased the offensive production that made him stand out in Reno. He’s batting .313 with a .394 on-base percentage, a .502 slugging percentage and an .896 OPS, along with eight home runs and 37 RBIs. It’s precisely that production that earned him another call-up as Arizona deals with yet another injury.

If Locklear continues swinging the bat the way he has in Reno, this second opportunity could be the one that allows him to establish himself as an everyday piece for Arizona moving forward.
