PHOENIX — NBA insider Shams Charania’s late-morning Sunday bombshell has Phoenix Suns fans in a whirl as they react to the team’s blockbuster trade for Miles Bridges.

Charania broke the news that the Charlotte Hornets were trading the forward, along with a 2029 first-round pick and a 2027 second-round pick, to the Suns in exchange for Grayson Allen, Royce O’Neale and a 2033 first-round pick.
Bridges averaged 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists while shooting 46.0% from the field last season with Charlotte.
The trade has Suns fans feeling a range of emotions, debating whether it will help the team in the long term or if they’ve overstacked the roster with forwards.

Absolutely horrific, abysmal trade for the Suns. Ignoring the elephant, there was no reason to give up two of your best shooters/culture vets AND an unprotected first round pick for 2026 Miles Bridges.
Might even be more value than the Lamelo trade for Hornets.

The move helps address some of Phoenix’s roster imbalance. Bridges gives the Suns a true forward who thrives attacking downhill rather than relying on high-volume 3-point shooting, filling a position of need after the team entered the offseason without much proven depth at power forward.
The deal also creates roughly $10 million in additional cap space and opens a roster spot ahead of free agency while giving Phoenix more long-term flexibility, as Bridges is entering the final year of his contract. Still, the cost is high, with the Suns giving away an unprotected 2033 first-round pick that could become valuable if the franchise falls by then.
