GLENDALE – The Kyler Murray situation for the Arizona Cardinals continues to get worse. The franchise has made it crystal clear its desire to trade the two-time Pro Bowler this offseason and start fresh with new head coach Mike LaFleur. However, as Arizona approaches the start of the new league year, March 11th, it has become clear that the market for Murray hasn’t been up to pair.

Murray expected to be released:
The break up has become mutual, and in a strange way, releasing him would be a parting gift to the seven-year QB, allowing him to choose his next team. Murray is still in the prime of his career at 28 years old and has plenty of interest teams. The Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Jets. Rapoport mentioned that New York remains the favorite, but it being early in the process, anything can change.

The only scenario where Murray could be traded is if a team that was interested in the quarterback knew it had a low chance of signing him in free agency against other teams. While the Jets are perceived as his likely landing spot, Steelers or Vikings can send sixth-round pick to guarantee Murray on the roster.
The cap implications of getting Murray’s contract for Pittsburgh and Minnesota will be tough to figure out, but both teams are looking to contend next season, with major question marks under center.
