On Friday, the league announced Sabally would be sidelined indefinitely as she continues to experience symptoms from a concussion sustained during the WNBA Finals in October. Sabally was injured in Game 3 after falling face-first into the knee of a Las Vegas Aces defender.
One of the most versatile players in women’s basketball, Sabally recently completed her first season with the Mercury as part of the team’s Big Three alongside Kahleah Copper and Alyssa Thomas. News of her lingering symptoms has shifted attention toward her recovery and long-term health.

Fans from across the basketball community responded with messages of support, while some voiced frustration about how concussions are handled at the professional level.
A concussion that happened in October? Yeah somebody has to be held responsible for how this has been handled. https://t.co/JgZ55B84ug

I hope Satou is okay. Malpractice how they had her walk off the court after that hit. https://t.co/miH40bQYaP

The way that entire thing was handled was egregious and the W seriously needs to re-evaluate how they handle on court head injuries. Hope Satou is able to recover fully https://t.co/2GHwREW1pw
