Head coach Jonathan Gannon announced on Tuesday that Harrison Jr. underwent appendicitis surgery and won’t be in action against the San Francisco 49ers. However, he could be out for more time once he’s reevaluated.
Losing Harrison Jr. alters Arizona’s offensive strategy, especially against a division rival. With Zay Jones already out with an Achilles injury and Simi Fehoko expected to go on injured reserve with a wrist injury, the Cardinals will need to rely on their depth.

With Arizona sitting at 3-6, the injury bug that has plagued the team continues to be a problem, as multiple starters, including quarterback Kyler Murray, are expected to miss time.
Harrison Jr. is in his second year in the NFL, carrying high expectations after a standout college career. While it hasn’t gone entirely as planned, he was beginning to find his groove alongside current starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett.
In 2025, he has 34 receptions for 525 yards and four touchdowns, ranking second on the team behind tight end Trey McBride.

Although losing the young wide receiver comes at a difficult time, the Cardinals are hopeful Harrison Jr. will make a smooth, quick recovery and return to the field within a week.
The Cardinals and 49ers face off on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 2:05 p.m.
