The win was a bounce-back from ASU’s toughest loss of the season. For a program looking to continue its breakout 2024 campaign, a test against Texas Tech was exactly what the Sun Devils needed to overcome last week’s defeat.

Quarterback Sam Leavitt returned after missing Arizona State’s game against Utah and threw for 219 yards and a touchdown. Running back Raleek Brown scored the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter. The win was defined by the reaction on and off the field.

Dillingham, an Arizona State alumnus, had tears in his eyes as he was surrounded by Sun Devil fans rushing the field. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) after the game, the ASU head coach had a little more to say about his team and the win.

Players also took to X to celebrate the victory, with some calling out analysts who didn’t pick Arizona State to win.

For a team that fell out of the AP Top 25 last week, Saturday’s win resulted in a reignition of ASU’s place in the national conversation and rekindled Valley pride.

Arizona State’s upset was a restoration of confidence on both sides of the ball. With the Sun Devils now 5-2, the next challenge is sustaining their momentum.

As the win fades and ASU gets back to work this week, the team can capitalize on its momentum and continue to shock the nation.
