Kahoot is a popular game-based learning platform mainly used in classrooms. Now it’s found itself as part of the Sun Devils’ film sessions to prepare for games.

“We do a lot of things in the classroom,” Abney said, according to Cronkite News’ Max Zepeda. “Looking at concepts, studying releases, studying receivers, quarterbacks’ tendencies and stuff like that. We have a Kahoot every day on little things. And if you don’t get a good grade on it, you gotta take it until you get a good grade.”

Abney II said ASU began implementing Kahoot-style film study last year, and it has been a focal point not only for the team’s success but for his own personal development.

“I feel like those all just help me, help [build] me to be the player I want to be in the future. It kinda started towards the end of the year last year, we started getting those Kahoots… we do them almost every day. It’s just something that we’ve just been doing and it’s just part of our routine.”

For Abney II and the Sun Devils, turning film study into friendly competition has become a cornerstone of their preparation.

Abney II, an ASU junior, has appeared in every game this season and has contributed on defense with 15 total tackles, including 13 solo, one sack and one interception.

Arizona State is currently 3-1 this season, with its latest win against Baylor on Sept. 20, 27-24.

ASU will now look towards its next challenge, facing TCU at home on Friday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m.
