Heading into the bottom of the ninth inning tied at 5-5, the D-Backs loaded the bases with no outs after a single by Corbin Carroll, a walk by Gabriel Moreno and an error on Blaze Alexander’s sacrifice bunt. Lawlar stepped up to the plate and, with a 1-2 count, check-swung on a slider out of the zone, making enough contact for a single to Giants first baseman Wilmer Flores.
Flores attempted a force-out at home to get Carroll, but Carroll’s speed beat the throw, giving the Diamondbacks a 6-5 win. Lawlar’s game-winning infield single was the first walk-off of his MLB career.

Arizona fans online were ecstatic, comparing this stretch of baseball to the one in 2023 when the team reached the World Series.
This is the literal definition of a swinging bunt. Gets the job done, another W,another important series W. https://t.co/RF03gmKRpu

The win keeps the Diamondbacks 1.5 games back of the final National League wild-card spot, taking the season tiebreaker against the Giants.
As the Snakes continue to fight for a chance to play in October, they will need to rely on clutch moments and collective efforts, like Tuesday’s win.
