GLENDALE – The Arizona Cardinals added three players to its practice squad, cornerback Chigozie Anusiem, offensive lineman Demontrey Jacobs and Scottsdale native quarterback Kedon Slovis. The 24-year-old will replace previous third-stringer Clayton Tune, who held the role for the past two years. Slovis was signed with the Houston Texans this training camp cycle, before being cut by the team at Tuesday’s deadline.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!In the preseason with Houston, Slovis went 27-of-43 in pass attempts for 233 yards, one touchdown and an interception. The 6’3 quarterback will get another opportunity in his home state with Arizona to try and make an NFL roster if a spot opens up for him.

Slovis returns home to play with Cardinals:
Slovis played for Desert Mountain in high school and earned a three-star rating by 247Sports. He later committed to USC, where he played three years with the Trojans. As a true freshman, Slovis had his best season recording 30 touchdowns and 3,502 passing yards. The following season, he lead the Pac-12 in touchdowns and passing yards.

The sky was the limit for Slovis after his first two years, but the injury bug would strike as he would spend his final three collegiate seasons with three different programs: USC, PITT, and BYU. The injuries held back Slovis from reaching the potential he showed in his first two years, ending up going undrafted in 2024.
The past two seasons he has been on the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans practice squad, eyeing to make an NFL roster. Slovis is hoping the familiar scenery with the Cardinals is enough for him to make the jump to the main roster.
