Arizona will need to get some sort of offense clicking. In their last four games, the D-Backs have only scored two runs and have been shut out twice. The lingering trade rumors have been weighing on this Diamondbacks ball club, as the Snakes cannot get out of this downward trend they are on.

Tuesday afternoon’s pitching showdown:

Brandon Pfaadt will get the start for the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday. Pfaadt comes into the face of the Tigers with a 10-6 record and a 4.76 ERA. He has looked reliable as of late, as he hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in his last three starts.

Detroit will be counting on Casey Mize to keep up his hot streak at home. At Comerica Park this season, Mize has a 5-1 record with a 3.23 ERA. Although in his last outing in Pittsburgh, Mize gave up five runs on ten hits in only 4.0 innings pitched.

Arizona will be without star third baseman Eugenio Suárez, after Suárez was hit by a pitch on the hand late on Monday night, which has thrown a wrench into the trade rumors surrounding him. As the D-Backs shift their focus to Tuesday, Pfaadt will be looking for some much-needed run support. If the D-Backs are able to do so, the Snakes could be in a position to tie the series up against the AL Central leaders. Time is getting away from the Arizona Diamondbacks though, and it seems like their season is slowly slipping away with every loss. Arizona needs to stack some wins before the trade deadline and build some sort of momentum heading into August.
