Pitching on Sunday at Chase Field:
Anthony DeSclafani gets the starting nod for Arizona, his first of the season after working exclusively out of the bullpen for the D-Backs. The 35-year-old righty brings veteran poise but limited recent innings, making this a key test for DeScafani. Expect a short leash and early bullpen action if trouble arises. Deslafani currently has a 4.82 ERA in the 2025 season.

The Royals will be starting right-hander Michael Lorenzen, who’s had an up-and-down season marked by command issues. Arizona’s stars Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte, will be looking to capitalize early against a pitcher who’s been vulnerable at times this season. Lorenzen is rolling into Sunday’s matchup with a 4-8 record and 4.95 ERA.

At the plate, Arizona also continues to lean on the power of Eugenio Suárez, who leads the club in home runs and RBIs. Kansas City, meanwhile, will look to Bobby Witt Jr. and Vinnie Pasquantino to carry the load offensively. The Royals haven’t scored much this season, but timely hits and aggressive baserunning have kept them competitive.
