What started as a disaster on Saturday, ended up with the Snakes showing some heart. If they can ride the momentum they had towards the end of the game last night, maybe they can get one of these games back as Arizona needs to make up ground in this incredibly tough NL West division.

On the bump on Sunday:
Corbin Burnes will look to get the Snakes back on track as he will look to build upon his month of May. In his four starts last month, Burnes had a 2-1 record with a 1.67 ERA. In Burnes’ previous outing, he pitched seven innings and only allowed two earned runs on six hits to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Burnes is finally showing that he is the same guy who has the talents of a Cy-Young pitcher and a true ace that the D-Backs can rely on in times of need like today.

Washington will look for Mitchell Parker to show some consistency today. Parker has had a slow start to the 2025 season on the road, as his road record is 0-3 with a 6.04 ERA. Arizona will need to jump on top of this, as Parker has shown this season he has trouble pitching in opposing stadiums. In his most recent appearance, Parker gave up four earned runs on seven hits in 4.2 innings pitched in a 9-1 loss to the Seattle Mariners.

Arizona needs to get into a groove, and fast. These series losses are stacking up, and these series include winnable games that the D-Backs need to capitalize on. Now that the month of May is behind them, maybe a new dawn is right around the corner for this D-Backs squad.
