Arizona State will take the court at MGM Grand Garden Arena on Monday, March 31, for its tournament opener against the University of Nebraska. The Sun Devils will face Nebraska in the third of four first-round games on the tournament’s opening day.

New Tournament Rules to Watch

Fans should be ready for a few rule changes that could impact the outcome of games. An experimental rule will allow coaches to appeal out-of-bounds calls during video reviews in the final two minutes of regulation. If implemented , this rule could eliminate officials’ ability to review out-of-bounds calls unless challenged by a coach. Key factors of this rule include:

– If a coach’s appeal is successful, the team retains its timeout.

– If the review fails, the appealing team loses a timeout.

– Coaches can appeal even without timeouts remaining; however, a failed appeal results in an excessive timeout administrative technical foul, awarding the opponent two free throws and possession of the ball.

Sun Devils’ Strong Postseason Run

Arizona State enters the postseason ranked third in the Big 12, averaging 73.9 points per game while hitting 8.8 three-pointers per game. Coming off his knee injury, forward Freshman standout Jayden Quaintance is excpected to be returning to play ready to take on Nebraska. Quaintance has been a key factor in ASU’s success helping elevate the team and energize fans through his momentum on the court.

With the odds on their side, the Sun Devils are ready to comeback postseason and make a statement in Las Vegas. Fans can expect an intense game as ASU fights for their spotlight.
