In a tragic turn of events, State Farm Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals, may be hosting an NFL playoff game between the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings due to the multiple wildfires running course in Southern California.

The NFL released a statement regarding the wildfires and moving the location of Monday night’s game:
“The NFL’s priority is the safety of the Los Angeles community. We are grateful for the tireless efforts of the first responders. Our hearts are with Los Angeles and everyone affected by the fires.
We continue to prepare to play the Vikings-Rams game as scheduled Monday night at SoFi Stadium. As with all games, there are contingency plans in the event a change in location is needed. In this instance, the game would be played on Monday night at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ if necessary.
We will continue to closely monitor developments in the area and remain in contact with public officials, both clubs and the NFLPA.”
The Cardinals also released a statement sending condolences for the victims and first responders and ensuring that they have agreed to host the Rams-Vikings NFC wild card game:
“Our hearts break for all of those impacted by the devastating wildfires in Southern California and we express our gratitude to the first responders who are bravely fighting them. As we have previously in similar circumstances, the Cardinals and State Farm Stadium have agreed to host Monday night’s Rams-Vikings game if it cannot be played in Los Angeles.”

The L.A. wildfires have already ravaged much of the Pacific Palisades, prompting all residents to evacuate and leave much of their belongings behind. SoFi stadium is 22 miles southeast of the Palisades fires.
