Dolphins (2-4) coach Mike McDaniel told reporters today that starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has officially cleared concussion protocol and will be back behind center for Week 8 against Arizona.

The 26-year-old Tagovailoa, who has a history of head injuries, suffered the concussion after a nasty collision in Miami’s 31-10 Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills and was then placed on injured reserve. Miami has struggled since, going 1-3 in his absence.

Tagovailoa, now in his fifth NFL season, connected on 23-of-37 passes for 338 yards and a touchdown in his only complete game of the season, a 20-17 win over Jacksonville in Week 1. He completed 69.3% of his passes for an NFL-best 4,624 yards last season to go along with 29 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 17 starts.

Tagovailoa practiced fully on Thursday, while Miami’s top-two wide receivers Tyreek Hill (foot) and Jaylen Waddle (quad) were notably among six Dolphins limited in practice.

This is what the injury report for the Cardinals (3-4) looked like Thursday:

  • LB Dennis Gardeck (Knee) – DNP
  • OL Christian Jones (NIR-Personal) – Full
  • DL Darius Robinson (Calf/NIR-Personal) – DNP
  • DL Roy Lopez (Ankle) – DNP
  • CB Sean Murphy Bunting (Neck) – DNP
  • OL Kelvin Beachum (Groin) – DNP
  • CB Max Melton (Neck) – Limited
  • LB Owen Pappoe (Hip) – Limited
  • OL Isaiah Adams (Thumb) – Full

The official injury reports for both teams with out, questionable and doubtful injury designations will come out after they practice later today.
