At one point, the Arizona Diamondbacks held a 93% chance to reach the postseason and held a 7+ game lead over the New York Mets. Yet, the D-backs are at home, and the Mets are in the Wild Card series as Arizona lost seven of their final nine games.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Despite finishing with more wins than in 2023, the season was seen as a disappointment for a team fresh off a World Series run. The issues were numerous—bullpen struggles, injuries, and underwhelming performances from key free agent signings like Jordan Montgomery and Eduardo Rodríguez. However, many fans on social media pointed their frustration toward manager Torey Lovullo.
Here is what fans had to say after the Diamondbacks season abruptly came to an end.:
Only thing worse than today will be the “Torey Lovullo is expected to be back in 2025” headline that’ll drop tomorrow. 2017 doesn’t throw Corbin in NLDS swept, 2018/24 Sept collapse, 2023 Sept collapse miracle to make playoffs at 83 wins, ‘21 111 losses, 2020 8 team no playoffs

It’s time to move on from Torey Lovullo. This team needs a personality upgrade. It needs a sharper edge. It’s needs a bottom line culture.
It almost certainly won’t happen but it should.

Ironically, similar criticisms were being made toward Lovullo in August last year, before he led the team on a magical run to the World Series. But this year, with three of his five starting pitchers faltering in the final months, Lovullo had limited options.
Last November, Lovullo signed a two-year extension with the Diamondbacks.
