The Cardinals dropped their first game of the 2024 season to the Buffalo Bills 34-28. They currently sit 0-1 in what will likely be a tough NFC West division that could see three teams winning at least eight games. Here’s how the rest of the NFC fared in Week 1.

San Francisco 49ers 32, New York Jets 19; 1-0

The defending NFC champions cruised to an easy win over the Jets. After New York took a 7-3 lead in the first quarter, the 49ers scored 23 unanswered points to take command of the game. Jordan Mason, making his first NFL start with Christian McCaffrey ruled out, torched the Jets for 147 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries. Brock Purdy was solid, completing 19 of 29 passes for 231 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. The 49ers ground game allowed them to dominate the time of possession, holding the ball for nearly 39 minutes.

Seattle Seahawks 26, Denver Broncos 20; 1-0

The Seahawks got off to a slow start, with Geno Smith taking a sack on his first dropback and throwing an interception on his first pass of the day. The Broncos recorded two safeties, one on an offensive holding penalty in the end zone and another when a run from the one-yard line was tackled for a loss. The Broncos had a 13-9 halftime lead despite not scoring a touchdown. Seattlle quickly changed that, scoring 17 points on their first three drives of the second half to take a commanding 26-13 lead in the 4th quarter. After Bo Nix scored his first NFL touchdown to cut the deficit to six, a key offsides penalty on 3rd & 11 followed by Smith finding Tyler Lockett for a nine yard gain sealed it.

Next Game: at New England (1-0)

Los Angeles Rams 20, Detroit Lions 26 (OT); 0-1

The Lions came out on top in a back-and-forth affair with the Rams. Detroit built a 17-3 lead in the third quarter after Jared Goff connected on a deep shot to Jameson Williams from 52 yards out. However, the Rams rallied to score 17 unanswered points to take a 20-17 lead late in the 4th quarter. The Lions drove to the Rams 14, but the drive stalled and Jason Bates hit the chip shot field goal to tie the game. Detroit then marched down the field, with David Montgomery doing most of the work against a tired Rams defense, to score from one yard out after winning the overtime coin toss.
