There had been some hope by fans that the longtime Cardinal would return back to the Valley, but that will not be the case.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport wrote on X  today: “Homecoming: Long-time Pro Bowl DE Calais Campbell, one of the biggest name free agents available, is expected to sign with the #Dolphins, per me and @TomPelissero. Back at home for The U superstar.

The 37-year-old has plenty left and will bring leadership.”

Campbell was one of the best free agents remaining after spending last season with the Atlanta Falcons, where he recorded 6.5 sacks in his 16th season in the NFL.

Arizona selected Campbell 50th overall in 2008 out of Miami. Campbell went on to be one of the best defensive linemen in franchise history after playing nine seasons in the Valley, recording 501 tackles (107 for loss), 56.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles and three interceptions across 138 games.

He has since played for the Jacksonville Jaguars (three seasons), Baltimore Ravens (three seasons) and Falcons.

Campbell is a six-time Pro Bowler, has three All-Pro selections and won the 2019 Walter Payton Man of the Year. He has 105.5 career sacks, which is tied with Elvis Dumervil for No. 32 on the official all-time sacks list (since 1982).
