According to NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo, University of Maryland QB Taulia Tagovailoa received an invite from the Cards to attend their minicamp and will take up the opportunity.

“Former Maryland QB Taulia Tagovailoa, who participated in the [Seattle] Seahawks rookie camp, accepted an invite to the Cardinals’ rookie camp this week,” Garafolo said. “A second crack at a roster spot in the NFC West for Tagovailoa.”

If the Tagovailoa last name sounds familiar, it should because Tulia is the brother of Miami Dolphins star Tua Tagovailoa.

Taulia spent four years of his college career at Maryland. With the Terrapins, he would play 41 games, completed 955-of-1,424 passes for 11,256 yards and threw 76 touchdown passes.

As Garafolo alluded to, the Hawaii native participated in the Seahawks’ camp but didn’t earn a roster spot.

If he impresses while at Arizona’s rookie camp, he could earn a practice squad spot given the players standing in his way for a prominent role on the Cardinals.

At quarterback, Kyler Murray is destined to begin the season strong as he will push a severe ACL injury from last year behind him.

In March, the Cards traded wide receiver Rondale Moore to the Atlanta Falcons and received Desmond Ridder. Ridder and second-year quarterback Clayton Tune will battle it out for the backup role behind Murray.

Arizona’s rookie camp begins Friday and goes through Sunday this week.
