Although Manager Torey Lovullo indicated that the injury seems to be minor, labeling Perdomo as day-to-day, this incident highlights a recurring theme of challenges for the Diamondbacks early in the season.

Even before the season started, the team faced setbacks, including being without starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez and closer Paul Sewald.

Additionally, during Arizona’s opening series against the Rockies, outfielder Alek Thomas sustained a strained left hamstring and was subsequently placed on the 10-day injured list.

However, there’s a silver lining amid these setbacks. Geraldo Perdomo’s recovery period could open the door for Blaze Alexander to make his first career start. So far, Alexander has only appeared as a designated hitter, but in 14 plate appearances, he has managed an impressive .417 batting average.

The Diamondbacks are set to face the Atlanta Braves in their next game on Friday at 4:20 PM.
