Diamondbacks place Alek Thomas on 10-day injured list, recall Jorge Barrosa

After exiting Sunday’s win prematurely, the Arizona Diamondbacks have placed Alek Thomas on the 10-day injured list due to a strained left hamstring.

Thomas injured his hamstring while running out a groundball.

In his place, the Diamondbacks have called up Jorge Barrosa from Triple-A Reno to potentially make his debut in the majors.

Last season with the Aces, Barrosa boasted a .275 batting average along with an .850 OPS. The versatile outfielder was signed by the D-backs back in 2018.

Although he won’t be starting against the Yankees, as Jake McCarthy steps in to replace Alek Thomas in the outfield, Barrosa could have an opportunity for a pinch-hit appearance.
