The Nets also received Keita Bates-Diop and three second-round picks from the Suns in the deal.
The 25-year-old Goodwin was acquired by Phoenix in the Bradley Beal trade in June. Goodwin averaged 5.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 14 minutes per game across 40 contests for Phoenix this season.
Goodwin had not played more than 10 minutes in a game since the Suns’ Christmas Day matchup against the Mavericks.
Now, Goodwin will try to find a new team as a free agent or be claimed off waivers in the next 48 hours.
