The Desert Mountain boys basketball team has been playing great this season with a 12-4. record. They have burst onto the scene to lead the way in the 5A Northeast Valley Section over both Notre Dame Prep and Chaparral due to division record. They are ninth in the overall 5A rankings.

According to the MaxPreps rankings that came out on Sunday, Desert Mountain was ranked as the third best team in state regardless of schedule up to this point. The only teams that were ranked ahead of the Wolves were Perry as the top team and Notre Dame Prep as the second team. That ranking also came out before their most recent win against Casteel this past Tuesday.

Based on stats, the Wolves don’t have any one player that stands out statistically, but Eddie House’s twin sons Kaden and Kalek have taken over games for the Wolves. Head coach Mitch Armour has been able to get the most out of this Wolves team up to this point and could have a team worthy of a state championship this season.

The sophomore House twins are the biggest keys for the Wolves moving forward this season. The Wolves play three straight road games coming up with a visit to Higley tonight, Chaparral Friday night, and Cactus Shadows next Thursday, before coming back home to play Horizon.

The Wolves are one of the best teams in Arizona this season on the hardwood and they seem like they are only getting better, putting them in prime position before the playoffs start next month.
