The Bears ran for at least 118 yards in four of those five games. The run game sets them up for success as they have not had a dynamic passing attack this season.

The Cardinals had to be aware of this going into their game. They were just not equip to stop the Bears’ rushing attack.

Chicago’s first touchdown drive ended with a touchdown run by Justin Fields.

This scramble would set up a touchdown throw for Fields later in the game.

The threat of the scramble led to Marcedes Lewis being left wide open in the end zone. The former Ohio State quarterback finished the game with 94 yards rushing. Justin Fields wasn’t the only one who had success running the ball.

Khalil Herbert had 20 carries for 112 yards and a touchdown. Herbert averaged 5.6 yards per carry. He had success running both inside the tackles and outside the tackles.

The Bears gained 22 first downs in the game. 13 of those 22 first downs were gained on the ground. Chicago won the time of possession battle 34:32 to 25:28. They totally controlled the game through their success on the ground.

A point of emphasis this off-season for the Cardinals has to be improving against the run. It doesn’t matter what else is going on, if the Cardinals run defense is this bad again next season, they will have a similar result record wise.
