Burn City Fantasy Football Flavor of Week 15

Week 15 of the NFL season is here and that means Fantasy Football Playoffs are among us.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

Are you ranked No. 1 in your league, last place, or in between and how is your matchup going into the final stretch of the fantasy calendar?

Well, whatever predicament you are in, the Burn City Fantasy Football Flavor of Week 15 is here to help you get the most points you can to hopefully progress to the next round.

Here were my recommendations and how they turned out in Week 13.

Waiver Wire Pickup: Philadelphia Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell vs. Dallas Cowboys on Dec. 10 – 4 carries, 28 yards = 2.8 Fantasy Points

Drop: San Fransisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell vs. Seattle Seahawks on Dec. 10 – 3 carries, 13 yards = 1.3 Fantasy Points

As I have previously said in past editions of this series, picking up someone from the waiver wire is like flipping a coin, you could get either very lucky or unlucky with the result of your choosing.

Gainwell is another prime example of that.

It is extremely difficult to find a free agent that could net you massive points at this stage of the season, especially during playoff time.

As for Mitchell, I said that he needed to be dropped ASAP and he showed why against Seattle.

With 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey at the helm in terms of touches for rushers, it is not worth keeping Mitchell.

Now, here are two players this week that are either a must add or must drop heading into the playoffs in Fantasy Football.

Free Agent Pickup: RB Ty Chandler, Minnesota Vikings

Even though he did not do much the last time I recommended him, I have circled back to running back Ty Chandler from the Minnesota Vikings.

I get it, Minnesota only won 3-0 over the Las Vegas Raiders yesterday and picking someone from basically an invisible offense is very risky.

Doing almost nothing against a below-average Raiders squad, this prediction could totally backfire.

During Week 11, Vikings starting RB Alexander Mattison suffered a concussion, but was able to play

Well, Mattison (ankle) is now dealing with an injury once again, which means Chandler may receive an upgraded role.

However, Mattison is questionable for Minnesota’s Week 15 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, so it is worth a gamble on seeing what Chandler can do for your squad.

This season, Chandler has featured in all 13 games, but has yet to start for the Vikings.

Additionally, he has had 49 carries for 203 yards, scored a touchdown and averages 2.9 fantasy points.

Should Mattison be ruled out, Chandler will have a heavier workload than you think.

Vikings’ Playoff Schedule

  • at Cincinnati Bengals (7-6)
  • vs. Detroit Lions (9-4)
  • vs. Green Bay Packers (6-6)

At 24% owned on ESPN and 22% on Yahoo, Chandler should be readily available in all fantasy formats besides most 14+ team leagues.

Drop: RB Dalvin Cook, New York Jets

If this was the Dalvin Cook who played for the Vikings, you would think I am extremely crazy for having him included.

But since he has joined the Jets in the offseason, Cook has nowhere been the Pro Bowl-type player he once was.

To this point of the season, Cook needs to be at least sitting on your fantasy bench, if not cut for someone else.

When you see Breece Hall taking a majority of the snaps for New York, Cook doesn’t hold much value week in, week out.

28% of users in ESPN and 20% in Yahoo leagues own Cook probably for name value and what he did in the past.

With 66 carries for 210 yards, Cook has yet to get a touchdown and only averages 1.9 fantasy points per-game.

Prior to 2023, Cook had 1100+ yard in his past four years with the Vikings, so this is a dramatic drop-off.

The Jets expect Hall to play, but is dealing with an ankle injury that may rule him out.

Don’t bank on it, Cook will continue to have minimal role for the foreseeable future.

Pick up Chandler since he will get more opportunities than Cook during fantasy playoffs.
