Devin Booker is out for tonight’s big matchup between the Phoenix Suns (11-7) and defending-champion Denver Nuggets (13-6) with a right ankle sprain.

Booker was downgraded after being listed as questionable with the injury on yesterday’s injury report.

Booker landed awkwardly on his ankle and was subbed out with 10:11 left in the third quarter during Wednesday’s 112-105 loss to the Toronto Raptors. He headed to the locker room shortly after, but checked back in just five minutes later despite being clearly hobbled by it. He had an extremely off night overall, only finishing with eight points on 2-of-12 shooting, five rebounds and five assists.

After the game, Booker explained how the ankle felt while playing on it.

“I don’t know if it got stiffer, but I wasn’t going to spend the rest of the night trying to beat people off the dribble,” Booker said. “We were still taking what the defense was giving us. They were still trapping, so I thought I could be out there, force that gravity, and get open shots for other people.”

This is now his fourth injury suffered this season and tonight will mark his ninth game missed this season. Yesterday, PHNX’s Flex from Jersey reported what a timetable could be for Booker’s injury.

The Suns are 8-2 in games that Booker plays this season, and are 3-5 without him. Booker is averaging 27.3 points, 8.5 assists and 5.4 rebounds on the year and just won Western Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Bradley Beal (low back strain) and Damion Lee (right meniscus surgery) are also out for the Suns.

Grayson Allen (illness), Kevin Durant (right foot contusion) and Nassir Little (personal) will all be available tonight and were not on yesterday’s injury report.

The Nuggets could be missing two starters in their own right, as Jamal Murray (right ankle sprain) and Aaron Gordon (right heel strain) are both listed as questionable.

Tonight’s game tips off at 8 p.m. MST from Footprint Center.
