Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride has been a revelation for the franchise as he has became a frequent starter since the game against the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 22.

With the news that TE Zach Ertz will remain on injured reserve since suffering a quad strain back on Oct. 22 vs. the Seattle Seahawks, the spotlight is destined to remain on McBride for the foreseeable future.

This Season

He announced himself as a force to be reckoned with when McBride ran for 95 yards after receiving 10 passes against the Ravens on Oct. 29.

Quickly becoming a fan-favorite, McBride hasn’t disappointed, but has rejuvenated the Cardinals offense as they have yet another threat on their roster going forward.

Inside State Farm Stadium on Nov. 12, McBride would have his best game as Cardinals as he amassed 131 yards on only eight receptions, including a clutch, 33-yard reception to set up the game-winning field goal, as Arizona went on to beat the Atlanta Falcons 25-23.

In doing so, McBride became the first Arizona tight end to have more than 100 yards in a single game in 34 years since Robert Awalt had 105 on Nov. 12, 1989.

Last week, the hype around him took a slight hit as McBride ran for 43 yards from 5 catches against the Houston Texans.

However, the Cardinals offense in general couldn’t get into a rhythm as they fell to the Texans 21-16 on Nov. 19.

Overall, McBride has started in 6 games for the Cardinals and played in all-11 this season.

Additionally, McBride has 41 receptions for 461 yards and a touchdown. Per run, McBride averages 11.2 yards per game in 2023.

Even though Ertz will return at some point, does he immediately replace Trey McBride who has became a rising star for Arizona?

The decision of who to go to at tight end for Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon’s offense will be a challenging topic to think about going forward.
