After the Arizona Coyotes put goaltender Ivan Prosvetov on waivers yesterday for the purpose of sending him down to the minors with the Tucson Roadrunners, the Colorado Avalanche claimed the Russian today.

Back in July, Prosvetov signed a 1-year, two-way contract with the Coyotes.

The 6’5″ goaltender was drafted by Arizona in the fourth round of the 2018 NHL Draft.

Prosvetov spent time with the Roadrunners and the Coyotes’ ECHL former affiliate, the Rapid City Rush, in his first year of professional hockey in 2019-20.

Beyond completing his first year, Prosvetov played with the Coyotes and Tucson each season before ultimately being waived.

While spending most of his time with the Roadrunners, Prosvetov had a 54-54-11 record.

As for Arizona, the Russian had a 4-6-1 record with a .871 save percentage and a 4.07 goals-against-average in 13 games played.

Since Avalanche backup goaltender, Pavel Francouz, is on injured reserve with a groin injury, Prosvetov looks set to fill in the role.

Playing a bulk of their games, Colorado’s Alexandar Georgiev will remain the starting goalie with Prosvetov playing when he is called upon.
